Welcome to your new Your Essex magazine

 Thaxted volunteer

This spring Essex County Council’s free residents’ e-mag has been revamped.

The name Your Essex is more inclusive and sums up how we want the magazine to develop – it is your Essex and we want to encourage your input and make the magazine more relevant to you.

Now the council's four-year EssexWorks programme has reached its natural conclusion we also saw this as an opportunity to refresh the look and feel of the magazine.

We have listened to your feedback and, with this in mind, have worked to increase the types of stories you find more useful or interesting.

schoolSo we will be including more local community features with an emphasis on volunteering, a regular education section which we have launched this issue to help and entertain parents and children of all ages plus revealing more secrets from the archives of the Essex Record Office to cater for the burgeoning number of historians out there.

Over the coming months, you will see increased use of social media with more opportunities for you to have your say. The new name for the magazine also complements the council’s newly-launched Your Essex app which brings more council services to you - wherever you are.

So, to make sure you can always find out what is happening in Essex, subscribe now to our free quarterly magazine and monthly newsletters (if you haven’t already). And please forward a link to this magazine to friends and family in Essex if they don’t already receive it.

And if you have any suggestions or comments about the magazine please email us at

I was looking for a section of the newsletter which allows space to give you feedback but in the current edition ( June 2015) the comments sections are all closed. What I wanted to suggest was that when talking about a town or area you include a small thumbnail map showing where it is in the County. I live in Essex but don't always know how far away places are or how easy many of the events are to get to. This would be very useful.

Have your say...
